01 - Place sliced carrots in a large skillet. Add water, unsalted butter, and brown sugar.
02 - Bring mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until butter and sugar dissolve.
03 - Cover the skillet and cook for 8 to 10 minutes until carrots are just tender.
04 - Uncover and cook for an additional 5 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until most of the water has evaporated and carrots are coated in a glossy glaze.
05 - Season with kosher salt and black pepper. Toss until evenly coated.
06 - Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired and serve immediately.
